The petitioner has applied for admission to Ph.D. course and has secured admission on the strength of her merit. The only ground on which her admission has not been finalized is that her qualification for admission is being doubted. The petitioner has obtained M.Sc. in Microbial Biotechnology, whereas the specified qualification for pursuing Ph.D. program is M.Sc. (Microbiology). It is asserted that Microbiology and Microbial Biotechnology are different expressions for the same course that may qualify a candidate for the common department of Microbiology.
