For convenience, parties are being referred to by their original position in the suit i.e. the appellant as plaintiff and respondents as defendants. 2. In brief, plaintiff is the holder of domestic electricity connection bearing account No.FJ-25/583 for her premises. On 30.11.2011, plaintiff received a memo No.2099 from defendant No.2 alleging that the meter in question was checked on 15.11.2011 and it was found that the seals were tampered with. Defendant was asked to deposit an amount of Rs.1,48,033/- as compensation on account of theft of energy and Rs.54,000/- as compounding charges, failing which threat of disconnection was extended.
