The instant petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the respondents to grant the benefits of pay revision in accordance with the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, which has been adopted by the State of Punjab, Department of Higher Education with effect from 01.01.2016 vide notification dated 28.09.2022 (Annexure P-10). Further, a writ in the nature of mandamus has been sought directing the respondents to pay the arrears of salary and other pensionary/retiral benefits like revised gratuity etc. along with interest @ 18% from the date of issuance of notification (Annexure P-10) till actual payment. 2.
