(ORAL) 1. Through the instant writ petition, the petitioner seeks issuance of a direction to the competent authority to renew his passport. 2. The case set up by the petitioner is that he was residing in Italy and had come to India in the year 2014 for solemnization of his marriage with one Kulwinder Kaur, whereafter he returned to Italy. During the petitioner’s stay in Italy, his wife got FIR No.66 dated 17.05.2024 registered against him and his father under Sections 406/498-A of the IPC at Police Station NRI, Mohali. On account of registration of the said FIR, the petitioner’s passport bearing No.N6501641, which was valid up to 04.01.2026 and for renewal whereof an application had been submitted by him on 29.10.2025, was not renewed. 3.
