Contention is that in terms of the statutory scheme, election to the post of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor is required to be conducted in a composite manner. 2. While entertaining the writ petition, we called upon the learned State counsel to obtain instructions in the matter. 3. Learned counsel representing the State of Punjab points out that the elections have already been held to the post of Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor on 06.07.2026 and 11.07.2026, respectively. 4. Since the election process has already been completed, in such circumstances, we do not find any justification to proceed with the hearing of the matter. The writ petition is accordingly dismissed. However, any person being entitled to assail such election, would be at liberty to proceed in accordance with law. 5.
