This petition, purportedly in public interest, has been filed by the petitioner seeking a direction to the respondents to secure the environment and punish opposite party no. 8, the elected Gram Pradhan, for alleged arbitrary and illegal cutting of trees and disturbance in the environment over land Gata No. 1937 at Village Panchayat Tikra Sani, Uttar Gaon, Pargana Nigoha, Tehsil Mohanlal Ganj, District Lucknow. 2. Submissions have been made that 360 trees were planted, which have been cut down and, therefore, action be taken against the Village Gram Pradhan. 3. A perusal of the report of Lekhpal indicates that the tree plantation was done, however, no trees were found cut down and that most of the trees either dried or the same were eat
