The present appeal has been preferred under Section 54 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (hereinafter “the Act”), challenging the judgment and decree dated 11.07.2016 (hereinafter “the impugned Signature Not Verified LA.APP. 244/2016 Page 1 of 27 Signed By:PRIYADARSHANI JAIN Signing Date:16.04.2026 18:13:01 judgment”) passed by the learned Additional District Judge-02 (West), Delhi/ Reference Court in LAC No. 11A/2010 (hereinafter “Reference Court”). By the impugned judgment, the learned Reference Court upheld the apportionment of compensation made by the Land Acquisition Collector, whereby 20% of the total compensation assessed in respect of the acquired property commonly known as “Vivek Cinema”, situated at Patel Road, Delhi was awarded to Respondent No. 2 (the Union of India through L&DO Department, in its capacity as lessor), and the claim of the appellants to recover that share was rejected.
