At the very outset learned Standing Counsel submits that petitioner has an efficacious alternative remedy of appeal available under Rule 20 of the U.P. Police Officers of Subordinate Ranks (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1991. 3. Learned counsel for petitioner could not dispute the above. 4. In view of the above, while I decline to interfere with the order impugned at this stage, I hereby provide that in the event petitioner prefers appeal within a period of four weeks from today, the appellate authority shall dispose of the same on merits within a further period of two months.
