This petition has been filed by the petitioner-Society requiring all the hospitals and nursing homes to follow the Bio Medical Waste (Management and Handling Rules, 1998) and seeking further directions. 2. Under the directions of the Court, the respondents have produced instructions inter alia indicating that the petition was filed in the year 2012. Subsequent thereto, Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016 has been promulgated by Government of India which Rules have been amended in the year 2018 and in terms of the said Rules, the bio medical waste is being handled wherein for common bio medical waste treatment facility, two firms have been engaged and that bio medical waste is being treated in terms of the Rules. 3.
