By means of this petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution, petitioner has assailed for a writ of mandamus to command the respondent concerned to dispose of the claim of the petitioner for promotion on the post of Sub-Inspector. It is submitted by learned counsel for the petitioner that many head constables of his seniority have already come to be promoted as Sub-Inspector whereas claim of the petitioner was rejected only on account of adverse entry awarded to the petitioner in the year 2010 but now since more than 10 years have been passed, the candidature of the petitioner for promotion may be considered afresh.
