Heard learned counsel for the petitioners and learned State Counsel for the State-respondents. The petitioners state that they are in peaceful possession over their house and the dispute with regard to such land otherwise is with private respondents. It is submitted that the police authorities have intervened and coerced the petitioners to enter into settlement contrary to their interest. It is submitted that the police authorities have no jurisdiction to adjudicate such issues or force the petitioners to enter into settlement. From materials placed on record, it transpires that there is a private dispute between petitioners and private respondent nos.5 to 10 in respect of immovable property.
