This petition purported in public interest has been filed by the petitioners seeking enhancement of amount of honorarium of Village Panchayat Members to attend the meeting of the Village Panchayat, which presently is Rs.100/-, to Rs.487/- per day. 2. Submission has been made that the Village Panchayat Members are being paid very low honorarium compared with other office bearers of the Panchayat and therefore, the same may be ordered to be enhanced. 3. We have considered the submissions made in the petition. The amount is being paid to the elected members in the nature of honorarium and therefore, to claim that the same should be enhanced on account of the fact that for the day they attend the meeting they have to forego their livelihood, cannot be countenanced. 4. Further, the locus of the petitioners, who claim to be social wo
