This petition filed in public interest seeks a writ of mandamus commanding the respondents to stop the conversion of barren land into a place of shelter for stray animals. 3. It is an admitted position that the state government under a scheme has proposed establishment of Gaushalas to shelter the stray animals and feed them appropriately. 4.
