The writ of mandamus in the present case has been sought on the premise that an order of status quo was passed in favour of the petitioner in relation to the land in dispute regarding which the partition proceedings were kept in abeyance on account of some survey being going on to demarcate the villages. 3. Once an order of status quo was passed by the Assistant Record Officer marking it to Revenue Inspector, Lekhpal and SHO, the petitioner ought to have approached the authorities concerned and brought the said order to their knowledge. The petitioner approached this Court without making any representation before the authorities concerned. It is a prerequisite for seeking a writ of mandamus to approach the competent authority first and such a requirement has not been fulfilled by
