Sri Manish Mishra, learned Additional Chief Standing Counsel on the basis of instructions has produced a copy of the order dated 19.06.2025 whereby the character certificate prayed for on the strength of an application made by the petitioner has been declined to be issued on account of pendency of a criminal case against the petitioner. The competent authority while passing the order has completely ignored the settled position of law applicable in this behalf. 2. This Court in a recent judgment dated 26.05.2025 passed in Writ-C No.718 of 2025 has clearly opined that mere pendency of criminal case does not come in the way of issuance of a character certificate in favour of the applicant.
