This writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to declare the action of the respondent in not releasing the passport bearing A.A4792325 submitted for renewal of the same on 13.05.2013 as illegal, and arbitrary. 2. A passport is generally valid for 10 years from the date of issuance. Once this period expires, the passport holder must either renew the existing passport or apply for a new one. In this case, since the 10-year validity period has already passed, the petitioner’s initial request is no longer applicable. The petitioner is therefore permitted to submit a fresh application for a new passport instead of purs
