This petition purportedly in public interest has been filed by the petitioner seeking a direction to the respondents to ensure complete ban on overloaded sugarcane trucks and private vehicles beyond the prescribed norms given by the Transport Department. 2. A perusal of the writ petition indicates that in the case where the transport vehicles are overloaded, action is being taken by the respondents under the law wherein, action against 402 overloaded vehicles have been taken and a sum of Rs.288.07 Lakh has been recovered as penalty. In those circumstances, it cannot be said that the respondents are not taking action against the overloaded vehicles. 3.
