Shri Rafeek Ahmad Khan, learned counsel for the applicant contends that the applicant is in jail since 26.12.2022. As per the charge-sheet, the prosecution proposes to examine 26 witnesses. However, only four witnesses have been examined till date. This appears to be a rather distressing state of affairs. The trial is moving at an inordinately slow pace. It also appears that the directions of this Court made upon the learned trial court rendered on 04.01.2024 in the first Criminal Misc. Bail Application No.56002 of 2023 (Maroof v. State of U.P.) have not been complied with.
