This petition has been filed by the petitioners, purportedly in public interest, seeking a direction to the respondents to consider the claim of the petitioners seeking cancellation of the consolidation order. 2. Submissions have been made that villagers are satisfied with the existing consolidation and therefore, proceedings be cancelled. 3. A bare look at the provisions of Section 6 of the U.P. Consolidation of Holdings Act, 1953 ('the Act') reveals that it is lawful for the State Government at any time to cancel the notification made under Section 4 in respect of the whole or part of the area specified therein and Rule 17 of the U.P. Consolidation of Holdings Rules, 1954 inter alia provides that a notification under Section 4 of the Act can be cancelled
