By means of this petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution, petitioner has prayed for quashing of the order of dismissal dated 14th July, 2025 passed by the respondent No.-2 under the U.P. Police Officers of the Subordinate Ranks (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1991. Learned Standing Counsel has raised a preliminary objection as to the maintainability of the writ petition as petitioner has efficacious alternative remedy of appeal under the relevant rules. Learned counsel for the petitioner could not dispute the above legal position. In view of the above, while I decline to grant indulgence in the matter at this stage, I dispose of this petition with a direction that in the event petitioner prefers appeal before the competent authority within a period of four weeks from today, the same shall be considered and disposed of on merits within a
