By means of this petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution petitioner seeks a writ in the nature of mandamus to command the respondents No. 2 and 3 to consider the seniority of the petitioner w.e.f the date of her joining i.e. 26.09.1997 whereas the respondents are considering the seniority only w.e.f the year 2007 when she was given confirmation in service upon a substantive post. 3. It is contented by learned counsel for petitioner that petitioner was offered compassionate appointment on 24.09.1997 on a supernumerary post on account of death of her father Hari Narayan Ram who was working in the respondent establishment while he died on 06.10.1996.
