This petition purportedly in public interest has been filed by the petitioners seeking to thwart the proposal made by the District Magistrate for converting the Nagar Panchayat into a Nagar Palika Parishad. 2. Submissions have been made that the proposal is contrary to the Government guidelines and contains factual inaccuracies qua which they have sent a representation to the concerned Secretary and, therefore, the proposal made by the District Magistrate be quashed. 3. Having gone through the averments made in the petition and the objections raised, the filing of the petition at this stage is totally pre- mature and essentially with a view to seeking publicity.
