Top-Ups Show Up the Moment You Pay

Credit top-ups and subscription renewals via Dodo now post to your balance as soon as the payment clears.

Paying for credits and then watching the balance fail to update is a specific kind of frustration — made worse when you topped up because you were in the middle of something. Top-ups and subscription renewals now post to your balance the moment the payment clears.

What changed

After a successful payment through Dodo, there was occasionally a delay before credits appeared in your Niyam balance. The money had left your account, but your available credits had not yet caught up. Most of the time it resolved within a minute or two, but that window was long enough to create doubt about whether the payment had gone through at all.

We tightened how Niyam listens for Dodo's payment confirmation so that a successful charge is recognised immediately. We also made credit posting reconcile against the payment record, so a confirmed payment always results in credits appearing even when a confirmation message arrives out of the expected sequence. A background reconciliation process catches any confirmation missed during brief periods of high load and posts the credits automatically, without any action required from you.

How to use it

  1. Go to Billing and select a top-up amount, or let your subscription renewal proceed.
  2. Complete the payment through Dodo.
  3. Return to Niyam. Your updated credit balance is visible in the header immediately.
  4. A matching entry appears in your transaction history with the amount in ₹ and a timestamp.
  5. Carry on with whatever you were working on. No page refresh, no waiting, no need to contact support.

Why it matters

The gap between payment and credits appearing tends to happen at exactly the wrong moment: mid-research on a deadline, partway through a draft that needs to be finished before a meeting. Making that gap invisible means one fewer interruption at the moments when interruption costs most.

Reliable posting also makes your transaction history accurate as a working record. When credits and payments align immediately, billing history reflects reality rather than a slightly lagged version of it. For in-house counsel or teams tracking usage against specific matters, that accuracy has value beyond the moment of top-up.

The change also handles edge cases that were previously opaque: payments that clear but whose confirmations arrive out of order, and top-ups that succeed while the system is briefly under high load. These are now resolved transparently, with no visible effect on your side.

Good to know

  • This covers one-time top-ups, subscription renewals, and the trial credit grant on new accounts.
  • If a payment is still processing at your bank, credits post the instant Dodo confirms the charge has cleared, which may take a moment for certain payment methods such as net banking.
  • Your receipt arrives by email from [email protected], and the same transaction appears in your Niyam billing history, so the two records match.
  • If you ever see a payment confirmed by your bank that has not appeared in your Niyam balance after a few minutes, contact support with the transaction reference. The reconciliation process handles most cases, but the support team can resolve the rest promptly.
  • Credits are denominated in INR and posted at the rate matching the package you selected.
