Every Credit, Accounted For

A clearer transaction history shows each top-up, charge, and refund so you always know where your credits went.

What changed

The billing screen now shows a complete, plain-language ledger of every credit movement on your account. Previously the billing view gave you a running balance with limited explanation of what had moved it. Now every top-up, every charge for a research, draft, or notice action, and every refund — including automatic refunds when a generation fails on our side — appears as its own line entry with a date, a plain description, and an amount in INR.

The transaction list distinguishes between credit types so you can read the history at a glance:

  • Top-ups show the amount purchased and the date it was posted to your account.
  • Charges name the action that consumed the credits, so you can connect a deduction to the specific work it paid for.
  • Refunds carry a short reason — for example, when a generation failed and the credits were returned automatically.
  • Trial credits are labelled separately from purchased credits, so you can always tell the two apart.
  • All amounts are shown in ₹ (INR), matching what you paid through Dodo.

How to use it

  1. Open the Billing section from your account menu.
  2. Your current credit balance appears at the top, updated in real time.
  3. Scroll down to the transaction history, listed newest first.
  4. Read the description on each line to understand what moved credits in or out.
  5. To reconcile with your Dodo payment records, match top-up entries here to the corresponding charges in your Dodo history — amounts and dates align.

Why it matters

When you spend credits on client work, you need to know where they went. A running total without a breakdown does not let you plan your next top-up, explain costs to a partner or finance team, or verify that an automatic refund arrived. A line-by-line ledger makes all of that possible in seconds.

It also makes Niyam easier to trust. Automatic refunds on failed generations are a policy we apply consistently, but until now there was no straightforward way to confirm that a refund had actually posted. Now it appears in the list with a plain-language reason, so you do not have to wonder whether the credits came back after a failure.

For practitioners who bill disbursements to clients, the transaction history provides a timestamped record of what each session cost in credits, which maps directly to what it cost in rupees. You can read that off the screen rather than reconstructing it from memory at the end of the month.

Good to know

  • The history covers your full account. If you are the owner of a team workspace, you can see the combined credit activity for the team, not just your own usage.
  • The figures in Niyam are consistent with your Dodo billing records, so what you see here aligns with your payment history without manual reconciliation.
  • All transactions since your account was created are included — there is no cutoff on how far back the history goes.
  • Credits are never deducted silently. If credits move for any reason, there is an entry in the ledger with a description and a date.
  • Trial credits granted during onboarding appear as a distinct entry, clearly separated from purchased top-ups, so you always know when you are spending credits you bought versus the initial grant.
