# Legal Deadline Counter — Niyam

## Statutory basis

**Section 12(1), Limitation Act 1963**: "In computing the period of limitation for any suit, appeal or application, the day from which such period is to be reckoned shall be excluded."

**Section 4, Limitation Act 1963**: Where the prescribed period expires on a court-closed day, filing may be made on the day the court reopens.

## Month arithmetic

Calendar months are used. 3 months from 31 October = 31 January. Where the target month has fewer days, the last day of the target month applies.
