Through the instant writ petition, the petitioner seeks issuance of a direction to the competent authority/respondent to renew/re-issue her passport without insisting upon a declaratory decree from a competent Civil Court in India, in accordance with the provisions of the Passport Act, 1967 and the Passport Rules, 1980. 2. At the outset, Ms. Shreyansi Verma, Advocate, who is in receipt of an advance copy of the writ petition and represents the respondents, submits, on instructions, that no application seeking renewal/re-issuance of the petitioner’s passport is pending consideration before the concerned Regional Passport Officer.
