The petitioner has filed the instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, seeking a writ of certiorari for quashing the order dated 21.05.2018 (Annexure P-4) and order dated 25.05.2018 (Annexure P-5), vide which the claim of the petitioner for promotion to the post of Senior Assistant has been rejected. Further, a writ of mandamus has been sought for directing the respondents to promote the petitioner to the post of Senior Assistant with effect from the due date, with all consequential benefits. 2. The undisputed facts of the case, which emerge from the pleadings of the parties, are that the petitioner was initially appointed as a Clerk on 18.07.1984 and, thereafter, he was made as Junior Assistant with effect from 01.01.
