The present petition has been filed by the Petitioner- Muhammad Nazim, under Article 226 & 227 of the Constitution of India inter alia seeking release of the gold bars, which were detained by the Customs Department vide detention receipt no. DRINDEL4/07-11-2023/003033 dated 07th November, 2023. 3. The brief background is that the Petitioner is a resident of India and had arrived at the IGI Airport, New Delhi on 07th November, 2023 from Saudi Arabia. Two gold bars, weighing 174 grams were seized from the possession of the Petitioner by the Customs Department. The Petitioner then moved an application on 14th December 2023 for release of the gold bars to the Customs Department vide DD No. 11216. Appraisement
